Review of Huawei P30 and P30 Pro

Friends, the other day Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were released in Paris, and we cannot lose sight of these

smartphones, because they turned out prettyhigh quality and innovative. Indeed, Huawei is actively moving forward and improving its mobile line, as in the case of the Mate 20. I suggest that you don’t pull the cat by the tail, but start immediately with a review of the P30 and P30 Pro.

Design

New smartphones turned out pretty stylish andchic. From the first acquaintance you realize that you have a flagship in your hands. Note that on the front panel at the top of the manufacturer has changed the cut. If earlier it was in the style of the iPhone X, now it has a teardrop shape.

Also, with the launch of this series, the company finallyremoved the old fingerprint, now the sensor is integrated into the display, and the screen in turn has become much larger. Yes, the manufacturer did not make a compact display, instead, he made it very high. For comparison, the P20 and P20 Pro had 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch displays with an aspect ratio of 18.7: 9. P30 and P30 Pro are equipped with giant 6.1-inch and 6.47-inch displays with an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9.

Otherwise, we can say that the design of the new products isvery distinctly reminiscent of the P20 line. The phones have glass on the back with colorful gradients. The frame is made of aluminum. Overall, the devices appear thinner around the edges thanks to the curved rear and front glass. The top and bottom edges of the device are smoothed.

Both devices come in five colors includingBreathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Pearl White, Black and Aurora. Amber Sunrise — gradient from red to orange, Breathing Crystal — gradient from white to purple, Perl White — gradient from white to slightly pink, Aurora — gradient from blue to turquoise.

Display

Now a little specifics about the screen P30 and P30 Pro. Both smartphones have an OLED display with a resolution of 2340x1080. You no longer have to choose between the LCD and the OLED display.

There are two biggest differences that youmay notice. The P30 Pro has a Samsung-style display, slightly curved at the sides, and the P30 display is completely flat. Huawei also decided to leave users with a standard headphone jack, but it is only available on the P30 model. Perhaps Huawei thinks you have enough money to buy wireless headphones if you are going to buy a P30 Pro.

Next… Version P30 has protection against water and dust IP53, P30 Pro — IP68. You will also notice that the older model does not have a speaker grille at the top.

Other features

Another important news — decreasechin, given that there is now an in-display fingerprint scanner that unlocks the device 30% faster. Compared to the Mate 20 Pro, the sensor has been moved lower.

Both phones boast HiSilicon Kirin980. 7-nm chipset includes an eight-core Cortex-A76 + A55 processor with a clock speed of up to 2.6 GHz and an ARM Mali-G76 MP10 graphics processor. Also worth noting is the amount of RAM 6/8 GB and 128/256/512 GB of internal memory, expandable with NanoSD.

And more good news! Battery capacity has been increased to 3,650 mAh on the P30 and 4,200 mAh on the P30 Pro, which will charge even faster and have wireless charging support.

There is also support for two 4G SIM cards, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C. The software is based on Android 9.0 Pie (EMUI 9.1).

Camera

But here it’s worth focusing your attention again, because we have something to tell you about. And we will start with the older model Huawei P30 Pro:

  • The main camera is a 40-megapixel 27-mm sensor with an aperture of f / 1.6 and optical image stabilization.
  • There is an extra wide 20MP (16 mm) lens with f / 2.2 aperture.
  • A telephoto lens with a resolution of 8 megapixels provides almost 5-fold optical zoom compared to the main lens (125 mm) with f / 3.4 aperture and optical image stabilization.
  • Under the P30 Pro flash, a new ToF sensor is installed. The phone emits infrared light and captures the reflection with this new sensor. Huawei promises the best bokeh effects with a new depth map. The company also combines a main camera sensor with a telephoto lens so that you can take photos at 10x magnification with hybrid digital and optical zoom.
  • Telephoto lens uses periscope design. This means that the sensor is equipped with glass for the light beam at a right angle. Huawei uses this method to not make the phone too thick.

Now about the Huawei P30

  • The main sensor is 40 MP with an aperture of f / 1.8 and optical image stabilization.
  • 16 megapixel ultra wide angle lens with f / 2.2 aperture.
  • 8 megapixel telephoto lens, which should provide 3x optical zoom.
  • No ToF sensor.

The manufacturer also assures us that the softwareEnsuring has been greatly enhanced to improve the quality of photos. In particular, the night mode should work much better due to optical and software stabilization. HDR photos and portrait photos should also look better.

On the front panel of the device, the camera's selfie sensor was increased from 24 to 32 MP. And you can capture HDR and photos in low light from the front of the camera.
