Domestic application store RuStore may be made mandatory for pre-installation on devices

The Russian analogue of the Google Play Market, called Rustore, was proposed by the Ministry of Digital Development to be made mandatory for

presets for gadgets released in Russia and other EAEU countries. This is reported by Vedomosti with reference to the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts. Discuss

It is known that the bill will affect smartphones onAndroid, tablets, computers and smart TVs. In addition, RuStore should thus replace the Applist, which was released by the Ministry of Digital Development in April last year.

The publication recalled that Applist is a directory withthe names of Russian programs divided into several categories. When clicking on any application from this directory, the user was redirected to the corresponding application in the Play Market.

The decision to replace Applist with RuStore is explained by the fact that “the functionality of a single app store duplicates and expands the capabilities of the Applist application.”
