Doom Eternal will receive a serious innovation for the series: id Software promises more epic and dynamics

Doom Eternal may be built on the good old destruction of demons, but the developers from id Software decided that it was time

diversify the canonical gameplay.

What is known

In an interview with VG247, executive producerMarty Stratton said that the team decided to add platforming to reduce the monotony. In 2016's Doom, players moved from level to level, destroying demons in hallways and large rooms. In Doom Eternal, the developers added verticality, which should diversify the gameplay.

“We didn’t overdo it.All the platforming sections are quite simple, but they break up the classic gameplay so much that when combined with the more violent mechanics and visuals, they will keep players interested,” Stratton said.

In addition, the developers promise an increased duration of the game. If 2016 Doom players passed in 11-13 hours, then Doom Eternal can take 22 hours.

The main character's movements are not limited to jumping and catching on ledges. The fighter received a hook that will help him be attracted to enemies or platforms, which will diversify the battles themselves.

"Beams and climbing walls, that's whatreally allowed us to not only expand the space, but also make the experience more epic as you jump over large gaps and cling to walls. It changes the pace of the game,” Stratton said.

Let us remind you that Doom Eternal will be released on March 20, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
