iOS and iPadOS 13.4 updates are available for download on all compatible devices wirelessly in the Settings app.To access updates, go to Settings> General> Software Update.Apple has also released iOS 12.4.6 for older iPhones with a security update.
iOS and iPadOS 13.4 are significant updates bringing several important new features to the iPhone and iPad. In particular, the iPadOS 13.4 update introduces mouse and trackpad support for the iPad, which improves accuracy and improves navigation.
Mouse and trackpad support ahead of Maythe release of the new Apple Magic Keyboard, which is a keyboard for the iPad Pro 2018 and 2020 with a trackpad. The update adds support for the functions of Magic Mouse, Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad, Magic Trackpad 2 and third-party USB and Bluetooth mice, as well as multi-touch gestures when using the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2.
New panel available in Mail apptools when viewing email with an updated design. The redesigned design moves the reply icon away from the delete icon, making it more difficult to accidentally delete an email. It also adds folder and composing icons.
ICloud folder sharing that allowsusers to share iCloud Drive folders with other people, included in iOS 13.4. iCloud Folder Sharing was first announced at WWDC as a feature of iOS 13 last year, but it took Apple several months to implement it. This function displays updates in real time, so file changes will be synchronized between the devices of all people who have access to a specific folder.
Apple added nine new Memoji and Animoji to the update with new stickers that show emoji-style poses such as a shocked face, a heart-filled face, rolling eyes, and more.
The company also introduced small but notableChanges to the operation of the URL bar in Safari. In iOS 13.4, you can immediately click on the URL bar, even if the URL is highlighted, which is different from the behavior of iOS 13.3.1. IOS 13.3.1 required an extra click outside of the URL to deselect before it could be clicked for editing.
New settings in the television applicationallow users to control streaming and downloading via Wi-Fi and cellular, adding new data storage options for those who do not have unlimited streaming plans.
On iOS 134 hints were found of the new CarKey API, which would allow the use of the iPhone to lock, unlock and launch a car with NFC capabilities. Sharing features will also be available for assigning keys to friends and family through the Messages app.
Apple has not yet announced CarKey functionality, andit is not mentioned in the release notes for the update, but after launch, iPhone owners will be able to use their devices instead of the car key. CarKey may appear as a feature of iOS 14, and BMW may be one of the first partners.
Although this is not a feature of iOS, Applewith iOS 13.4, macOS 10.15.4, tvOS 13.4, and Xcode 11.4, developers can create apps with universal shopping support, which means that Apple device users will be able to purchase one app that runs on multiple platforms.
iOS 134 includes support for a third-party navigation application for the CarPlay toolbar, as well as support for information during a call. IPad has added new keyboard shortcuts for the Photos app, and AR Quick Look supports audio playback for USDZ files.
Apple also added new Shazam actionShortcuts, options for reassigning the hardware keys of the keyboard connected to the iPad, has a new status indicator that displays when the VPN is disabled on the iPhone with full-screen displays, and Apple introduced a number of bug fixes.
Fixed a bug due to which the viewfinderThe camera might appear as a black screen, as well as a problem that made the photos appear too large. This update fixes an issue that could cause the email message to appear out of order, fixes a settings issue that causes the cellular data to display incorrectly as disconnected, and fixes an issue that could lead to a loss of CarPlay connection in some transport means.
