As part of the new work, the Halifax team has been working on the latest problem and now claims they have developed a battery that can last 100 years.
Testing has shown that if such batteries are operated at 3.8V instead of the standard 4.2V and an ambient temperature of 25°C, they are expected to last approximately 100 years.
The problem is that these batteriesare more expensive and may not meet vehicle power requirements. On the other hand, they suggest that such batteries can work well as long-term energy storage systems. Another disadvantage is that such batteries are not very environmentally friendly. The authors emphasize that more work needs to be done to learn more about the commercial use of such batteries.
