“Elon Musk from India” assembled a car using solar panels: it took him 11 years

In 2009, Bilal Ahmed from Kashmir, India, came across a news article that predicted

exponential increase in gasoline pricesin the future. This inspired him. Today, this math teacher is the creator of the first electric car in history in his state, which runs on solar energy.

"I am an innovator, and not an automaker, he said in an interview. Ahmed converted his 1998 Nissan Micra into an electric car with solar panels as an additional charging method. It took him 11 years. The car also features wing-shaped doors.

Ahmed’s solar-powered car was appreciated by netizens, calling the author of the development “Elon Musk from India.”

“Innovative car [that’s what he callshis modified car] consists of six monocrystalline solar panels—on the hood, tailgate, gullwing doors and roof,” says Ahmed.

“The car receives almost 40% of its energyfrom solar panels. “I also experimented with the minimum battery capacity and motor size and found that a 50mAh battery could effectively power a 10-20kW motor, giving me a decent range,” said the engineer.

He added that for a carhe used monocrystalline panels because they are known to produce maximum energy even with less solar energy. He explained that they are more efficient and take up a small surface area.
