Elon Musk hires PlayStation 3 hacker to work on Twitter

Elon Musk hired George Hotz, who is best known for breaking the

operator on the iPhone, and also hacked the PlayStation 3 to fix certain problems on Twitter, namely the broken search function.

What is known

Previously, Mase had already tried to hire a hacker towork for Tesla, but they did not agree on the terms then. Hotz subsequently founded a company called Comma AI, which developed competing software against Tesla's Autopilot. In 2015, they had an argument about whether one person or a small company “that lacks extensive engineering verification capabilities” create car driving software that can be used in real cars. Now he seems to have changed his mind and hired Hotz to work at Twitter.

Hotz has big plans for his 12weeks on Twitter. He wants to get rid of the pop-up that shows you've been scrolling for too long, and also improve the relevance of search results. But he won’t do it himself, because he’s already looking for engineers willing to help him “for free.” As some users have noted, inviting volunteers to work on one of the largest companies in Silicon Valley is not the best move, especially after Musk fired full-time engineers who could definitely help him solve this issue.

“If I just get rid of the popupwindows, I still consider my internship a victory”, – Hotz wrote on Twitter. “I have a Chrome extension on my laptop to block it.”.

In any case, we will see what exactly Musk's former rival will come up with in the 12 weeks that he took him.
