The European Commission continues to inspect different types of energy in order to decide which types

economic activity can be calledsustainable investments in the EU, based on whether they meet the union's environmental criteria. Now experts have recognized that nuclear energy is clean and environmentally friendly - this can be found in the official report of the organization.

Previously, the opinion of experts was divided. They acknowledged that these emissions are doing very little harm to the planet, but businesses need to do more analysis of how radioactive waste dumps affect the environment.

The Commission asked the Joint Research Center (JRC), its scientific and expert arm, to report on this issue.

The draft report of the JointResearch Center (JRC), notes that nuclear power deserves a green label. The researchers noted that their "analysis did not reveal any scientifically based evidence that nuclear energy is more harmful to human health or the environment than other power generation technologies."

Storage of nuclear waste in deep geologicalformations is considered “reasonable and safe”. Scientists note that France and Finland are already at an advanced stage of developing such facilities.

Two expert commissions will study the results of the work for three months before the Commission makes a final decision.
