Europe has decided to limit the influence of Apple, Google and other tech giants

EU countries intend to adopt common rules to limit the influence of such tech giants,

like Amazon, Apple, Alphabet (Google) and Facebook.

Europeans are preparing for the adoption of the Digital lawMarkets Act (DMA). It contains a list of what data control technology companies can and cannot do. In addition, the law requires tech giants to do more to combat illegal content on their online platforms. Violations can result in heavy fines.

EU countries have already agreed on most of the keymoments of the law. The last question left for them to discuss is who exactly will regulate very large online platforms. According to the existing rules, Ireland regulates the activities of Facebook, Google and Apple, since the European headquarters of the companies are located in the country. However, this does not suit everyone. European countries need to come to a compromise solution.
