Researchers from Massachusetts analyzed a mixture of chemicals that are present in the gas,
"This study shows that gas appliances such as stoves and ovens can be a source of hazardous chemicals in our homes even when we're not using them," the scientists said.
The fact is that the gas is not entirely clean.Among the simple carbon blocks are longer hydrocarbon chains, volatile organic compounds, including various alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatic compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene. Not all of these compounds are harmful to us, but in some combinations they can increase the risk of cancer and pollute the atmosphere.
End of 2019 to mid 2021The researchers collected 234 gas samples from 69 stoves. It turned out that about 7% of the compounds in it are considered dangerous at sufficiently high doses. It also turned out that a person is simply unable to feel some gas leaks.
