Exactly 25 years ago, a woman astronaut set a double record for being in space.

On March 23, 1996, the Space Shuttle Atlantis docked with the Mir space station in order to deliver the

female astronaut Shannon Lucid.

On this day she returned to work at the stationafter four months of absence and set a record for women in the number of missions in space. This flight became her fifth and lasted 188 days, which also became a record. But if no one has surpassed the maximum in the number of missions so far, then the record for the duration of stay was held only until 2007.
