What is known
Tu-95 bombers entered the identificationthe air defense zone of Alaska. For the interception, fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighters, the fourth generation, were used. Also taking part in the mission were the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, the KC-135 Stratotanker air tanker and the E-3 Sentry early warning aircraft (in the same order in the photo below).

According to the command, Russian aircraft remained in international airspace. During the flight, the bombers did not cross US or Canadian airspace.

NORAD reports that the actions of the Tu-95 are notseen as a threat or provocation. Such activity of Russian strategic aircraft in the air defense identification zone of North America is observed regularly.
