FDA: 55 brands of sanitizers are toxic and may lead to blindness.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published

a list of 55 brands of hand sanitizers that may be hazardous to your health. Almost all brands are made in Mexico. The department also withdrew these funds from sale.

The FDA added that consumers whoused these sanitizers, should immediately seek medical help. It contains harmful substances - including methanol, which in large quantities can lead to nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, blindness, convulsions, coma, irreversible damage to the nervous system or death. Children are at particular risk.

The FDA previously found high levelsmethanol in bottles of All Clean Hand Sanitizer, Moisturizer and Disinfectant from ITECH 361. The agency warned that it can be lethal if it comes into contact with the skin or inside the body. After this, the FDA recalled the product from sale and began reviewing the composition of other products.

“All people using these products are indanger. But young children who may accidentally use them inside, as well as adolescents and adults who drink these products as a substitute for alcohol (ethanol), are at the greatest risk of methanol poisoning, ”the agency said.
