First carbon-neutral synthetic-fuel supercar unveiled

De Tomasso, an Italian sports car manufacturer, has unveiled the P900 supercar,

intended exclusively for racing tracks. It will run on synthetic fuel. The car weighs only 900 kg and can develop a power of 900 hp.

The development is not planned for mass production - in total, the company promises to produce and deliver 18 such cars around the world. Each will cost $3 million.

According to the company, the car will workpowered by a bespoke, project-specific naturally aspirated 6.2-litre engine. It will use synthetic fuel and reach speeds of up to 12,300 rpm. 

The rear-wheel drive P900 is equipped with sequentialgearbox - a special lever provides sequential shifting. The body and chassis are made from carbon fiber. Additional details are not disclosed, will be available to buyers.

The company notes that the new developmentreflects the desire for a future of zero-emission mobility that does not have to sacrifice key vehicle features. The finished car is expected to be presented at showrooms in mid-2023.

To recap, synthetic carbon neutralThe fuel is obtained through the chemical conversion of carbon dioxide. When such fuel is burned, the balance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is restored.
