First details of Intel's next generation processors revealed

The first details about Intel Alder Lake-S processors have appeared online. The family will include both mobile and

desktop platforms.

Intel promises 20 percent increaseperformance per core in new processors. This will be ensured by the new Golden Cove architecture. It is not yet clear what the expected increase is in relation to Rocket Lake or Tiger Lake.

In addition, the company claims that Alder Lake processors will be twice as fast as previous processors in multi-threaded tasks. Here Intel mentions its new high-efficiency Gracemont cores.

It is also confirmed that Alder Lake processors will support PCI Express Gen5 and Gen4. There will also be support for DDR5 and DDR4. Mobile models will also support LPDDR4 and LPDDR5.

The launch of new products is expected in 2021, but it is not yet clear which processors will be released at this time - mobile or desktop.
