First estimates of the MediEvil remake: more disappointing than happy

The remake of MediEvil for PlayStation 4 will reach gamers only on October 25, but the gaming press has already managed to evaluate

updated classics.

After 42 critic reviews, the game's average rating isMetacritic score is 69. A PlayStation Universe journalist gave the project a 95, praising the graphics and gameplay, but criticizing the game's camera and "clumsy" combat system. At the same time, for the author of Videogames Chronicle this was enough to give the project 40 points. The MediEvil remake received the same rating from Screen Rant, whose journalist listed the checkpoint system and controls as minuses.

“MediEvil shows that you can take a classic and completely remake the look from the ground up, while still leaving the same feeling it had two decades ago,” Wccftech, 82 points.

“MediEvil successfully brings the story of Daniel Fortescue back from the dead again, but not enough work has been done to modernize the mechanics of this remake,” IGN, 65 points.

“Poor controls and a lack of a checkpoint system result in the game being more frustrating than fun,” Screen Rant, 40 points.
