Media reported that Nigeria has recorded its first death from monkeypox. In total, 21 people fell ill in the country.
This was reported by the local center for prevention anddisease control (NCDC). Experts said that a 40-year-old patient had died. He had some concomitant disease, he also took immunosuppressive drugs.
Today the World Health Organization(WHO) also stated that it does not believe that an outbreak of monkeypox outside of Africa will lead to a pandemic. The specialists added that it remains unclear whether infected people without symptoms can transmit the disease.
First human case of monkeypoxwas identified in 1970. The disease is manifested by the following symptoms: fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion.
