First tests of Success Rockets private meteorological prototype passed successfully

The rocket prototype is intended to test on-board systems; it is planned that they will be used on

suborbital meteorological rocket. Development of the rocket lasted a total of six months.

The entire flight lasted 90 seconds.During this period, the team managed to work out the actions of the launch calculation during the launch of the rocket, to check the effectiveness of the layout solution of the electronics unit at nominal accelerations, vibrations and in real conditions.

“Our company is actively developing itsown launch vehicles for suborbital and orbital flights, including engines, telemetry and rescue systems, explains Oleg Mansurov, head of Success Rockets. — In the winter, we successfully completed static fire tests of our own engine, and now it was important for us to check the on-board systems. Since all systems worked as expected, the next step is to test the rocket with our maximum power engine.”

The test program also included verificationstability of communication during the passage of different stages of flight (with the engine running, during flight along a ballistic trajectory, etc.) and gaining experience in using search equipment in real conditions, taking into account the characteristics of the earth's surface (hills, forest), weather conditions (humidity , temperature).

“Conquering peaks always starts from low altitudes. For a very young private space company, even a meteorological rocket prototype is quite a landmark achievement: we have seen many space startups, all of whose flights remained on paper, notes Anton Nemkin, one of the investors in Success Rockets. — The results of past tests allow us to look into the future of Success Rockets with some optimism. Sergei Pavlovich Korolev at one time started with much smaller models, now they would look like toys - but he reached such heights that we have been proud of for more than half a century.”

Further tests of the first stage of the suborbital rocket are planned for this summer.
