Twitter developers, eight months after the release of Fleets, announced the closure of this feature.
What is known
Twitter Fleets is an analogue of Instagram Stories. That is, short videos that were displayed at the top of the social network. Due to low demand, the company decided to remove them. Fleets will be disabled for all users on August 3. Instead, they will display Spaces audio rooms, which the company borrowed from Clubhouse.
we’re removing Fleets on August 3, working on some new stuff
we’re sorry or you’re welcome

By the way, after removing Fleets, Twitter plans to leave some editing tools. For example, the ability to format text and add stickers and GIF animations to images.
We hoped Fleets would encourage more people to join the conversation, but that wasn’t the case. So we’re removing them and focusing on improving other parts of Twitter.
