For the first time, photon qubits were teleported 44 kilometers through optical fiber

Scientists previously managed to teleport quantum information over significantly larger distances, but when

this achieved a very low accuracy ratetransmitted information. This case is the first in the history of science when teleportation was carried out with such high accuracy and over a considerable distance.

The researchers used technology that, according toAccording to them, it is fully compatible with modern telecommunications equipment. They note that it could be used to create a quantum Internet in the future. As a result of this process, experts were able to achieve an accuracy of up to 90%. These data were confirmed during experiments in two different networks.

We are delighted with these results. We consider this experiment an important achievement on the path to creating technologies that will change the approach to global communication.

Now the team plans to lay the foundationFermilab, in collaboration with several leading universities, is developing a quantum network in Chicago called the Illinois Express Quantum Network.

In future experiments, scientists are going to set a new record for teleportation distance and the number of entangled qubits.
