Ford raises the price of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck again – the price has increased by 40% since May 2021

Ford has announced another increase in the price of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, for which it

cannot fully satisfy.

What is known

The F-150 Lightning is now priced at almost$56,000, taking into account the latest price increase of $4,000. Since May 2021, the cost of a car has increased by 40%. The manufacturer's recommended price for the car was $40,000.

Ford explains its decision by increasing the cost ofprocurement of materials, supply chain constraints and market factors. The company notes that along with the demand for electric cars, the cost of raw materials, which are key to batteries, has risen sharply. We are talking about nickel, lithium and cobalt.

F-150 Lightning went on sale lastin the spring. Since then, the company has been able to sell just over 13,000 electric vehicles. However, this number does not reflect actual demand. The pickup truck is popular with buyers, but Ford has been unable to meet demand due to limited supplies.

The company wants to increase production of the F-150 Lightning to 150,000 vehicles by next fall. To achieve the goal, Ford added a third shift at its Michigan plant.
