Fortnite will get a performance mode for weak PCs that will double FPS

Epic Games has announced the addition of a new performance mode that will allow you to achieve high frequencies

In a blog, the company said that the new modesupports PCs that meet Fortnite's minimum requirements. According to the developers, the “performance” mode will improve performance, reduce RAM consumption, and also reduce the load on the processor and video card due to deterioration in image quality.

Performance mode can be enabled ordisable in the in-game options menu, after which you will need to restart the game. It will become available to players on December 15, but so far only in the form of an alpha version in Battle Royale and Creative mode.

Epic Games even ran its own tests on weaker laptops, running Fortnite at 720p with performance mode enabled.

  • Frame rates up to: 24 fps
  • Frame rate after: 61 fps

  • Frame rate up to: 18 fps
  • Frame rate after: 45 fps

In addition, players will be able to refuse textureshigh resolution, not only increasing performance, but also freeing up disk space. Approximately 14 GB of high-definition content will be removed from the game files along with additional components, resulting in a final game size of 17 GB.

To opt out of high resolution textures, follow these steps:

  • Open the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Select "Library".
  • Click on the three dots next to Fortnite.
