Found a rare planet, very similar to the Earth. She is close to us

Of the 5,000 exoplanets discovered to date, only 12 are similar to Earth. Scientists recently discovered another

 — Wolf 1069 b. Its mass is similar to that of the Earth and potentially liquid water and an atmosphere could exist on it, astronomers believe.

The exoplanet Wolf 1069 was discovered by scientists from the InstituteMax Planck Astronomy in Heidelberg. They used data from the Calar Alto Observatory in Spain. The researchers used a special spectrographic instrument developed for the Caremenes project. This is an initiative to search for Earth-like worlds orbiting M-dwarfs—small, cool stars that are more common in the Milky Way. Previous studies have shown that red dwarfs are likely orbited by planets with liquid water.

A red dwarf is small and relativelya cool main sequence star with spectral class M. They are quite different from other stars. The diameter and mass of red dwarfs does not exceed a third of the solar mass (the lower limit of mass is 0.0767 solar, followed by brown dwarfs).

Research has shown that Wolf 1069 b is a tidally locked planet. This means that one side of it is always facing the star, and the other is constantly in the dark, like the Moon.

Since M dwarfs are much cooler than the Sun,planets can orbit much closer to them and still retain liquid water and an atmosphere. Despite the fact that Wolf 1069b is much closer to the star than we are to the Sun, it receives 35% less energy than Earth.

Without the atmosphere there would even beIt's cold (-23 °C) even on the sunny side of the planet. However, if it has retained an atmosphere, its average temperature is in the range of 13°C. These conditions are most favorable for life and the maintenance of liquid water. The atmosphere would also help protect the planet from electromagnetic radiation from its star.

Whether she kept the fin on the Wolf 1069 b is unknown. Current tools are not able to provide data of this level of detail.

The parent star of Wolf 1069 is located at a distance of 31.2 light years from the Solar System in the constellation Cygnus. Its temperature is only 3,158 Kelvin (2,885°C).
