France is testing an AVATAR multicopter equipped with a German HK416 assault rifle

France's General Directorate of Armaments, a body within the Ministry of Defense, begins testing

unmanned aerial vehicle AVATAR.

What is known

Office on its official Twitter pagepublished a photo from which it is clear that the AVATAR is equipped with six screws, i.e. is a hexacopter. It will probably replace the DJI Matrice 600. The French tested the Chinese company's UAV several years ago, but failed to achieve the desired results.

The main feature of AVATAR is that the drone is equipped with a German HK416 assault rifle. The French Ministry of Defense wants the drone to be able to hit targets at a distance of 100-150m.

At what stage is the French development, has not yet been specified. At the same time, it is known that the General Directorate of Armaments intends to begin combat tests at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. Now experts want to solve the problem of strong recoil during shooting.
