France promises Ukraine to receive SAMP/T-Mamba air defense systems capable of shooting down ballistic missiles this spring

France and Italy continue to prepare for the transfer to Ukraine of the SAMP / T anti-aircraft missile system, which

help protect the sky from enemy missiles.

What to expect

Ukraine will receive Mamba systems from allies. According to French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, the air defense system will be delivered to Ukraine in the spring.

“With Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto (GuidoCrosetto), we decided to deliver to Ukraine in the spring of 2023 SAMP / T-Mamba air defense systems. This system will protect the civilian population and infrastructure from Russian attacks, as requested by Aleksey Reznikov."

SAM Mamba (SAMP-T) is an air defense systemmedium-range defense, created by a joint French-Italian consortium. It is capable of fighting not only aircraft, but also cruise and (most importantly) ballistic missiles. The complex uses Aster 30 Block 1 missiles and can fire 8 of these missiles in just 10 seconds. SAMP/T is capable of tracking up to 16 targets simultaneously, the target detection range is up to 400 km.
