In Amsterdam, a futuristic parking lot has been opened at Central Station, which is located under water.
What is known
The parking lot can accommodate 7,000 bicycles:6300 personal and 700 for rental. But in February they plan to expand it, increasing the total number of seats to 11,000. Why bicycles? Construction of the parking lot lasted 4 years. The builders first drained the water from the reservoir in front of the station, laid the foundation and columns, which were delivered by barge, and sank the roof of the structure. The total cost of the project was 60 million euros.
The parking lot is open 24 hours a day. The first 24 hours are free, after which the rate is 1.35 euros for each subsequent day.
