Futuristic unmanned electric trucks Einride will take to public roads in the US

The Swedish company Einride, with the support of General Electric Appliances, will release electric trucks on public roads

use in the United States.

What is known

Einride started developing dronesvehicles from scratch, so they are devoid of a cab for the driver. The first tests of unmanned trucks will take place on the road between the plant and the warehouse of General Electric Appliances in Tennessee. The distance is 1.5 km. The start of testing is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.

The pilot project will end two weeks afterlaunch. The trucks will be monitored by Einride operators. They will help cars park in warehouses and move in reverse. At the same time, in most situations, vehicles will work autonomously.

Trucks are equipped with cameras and lidar forwork at night in snow, fog, hail and rain. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has only allowed Einride drones to travel during the day in clear weather.
