Garmin has decided to update its line of smartpremium watches with new models, or to be more precise — older models with an additional feature that involves the use of solar technology. Garmin has added solar technology to four of its iconic smartwatches: the Instinct, Fenix 6 and 6s, and the Tactix Delta.
This is not the first solar powered smartwatch, released by Garmin, and probably not the last. Building on the success of the Fenix 6X Pro Solar, these new versions of Solar promise to increase battery life and new features for surfing, mountain biking and mountain climbing.
According to technical specifications, none of theseThe smartwatch version has not been changed, with the exception of adding solar panels. For example, Fenix 6S with a solar panel now offers an extra day and half of battery life with sufficient solar consumption, while 6 Pro Solar received an additional two days of battery life with the addition of new technology.
Next we have the Garmin Instinct line, whichconsists of three new «solar» models: Instinct Solar, Instinct Solar Surf Edition and Instinct Solar Tactical Edition. All three devices offer up to 50 days of battery life in SmartWatch mode with sufficient solar power, and they should last almost indefinitely if the user activates the battery saving mode.
And last but not least:new Tactix Delta — This is a military-grade smartwatch that uses solar charging for extended battery life and a Power Manager mode that provides up to 21 days indoors and up to 24 days with sufficient sun exposure. The watch comes with a so-called stealth mode that disables location sharing and wireless connectivity, as well as a kill switch to wipe user memory.
As for prices, they are quite expensive. Although suggested retail prices start at $ 400 for the Instinct Solar, they can go up to $ 850 for the Fenix 6 Series Solar Edition and up to $ 1,100 for the Tactix Delta Solar Edition.
