Columbia class guided missile cruisers.

Submarines will only appear in 2031.However, the company has already received a $5.1 billion contract from the US Navy to purchase materials with a long shelf life for the construction of the next five missile cruisers.

Representatives of General Dynamics Electric Boatbelieve that this contract is key to the success of the program. Kevin Graney said the investment will help stabilize and expand the supply chain. This will increase production capacity and reduce risks, ensuring the timely delivery of submarines to the US Navy.

Columbia-class submarines arestrategic nuclear submarines. They will be able to carry 16 Trident II D5 intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. The guided missile cruisers will replace the Ohio-class submarines, which will begin to retire from 2027 at a rate of one a year.
