General Staff: Russia used 86 Shahed-136 Iranian kamikaze drones against Ukraine, APU shot down 60%

What is known

This was announced during a briefing 6October, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Alexey Gromov. According to Gromov, Ukrainian defenders shot down 60% of the drones. For this, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used aviation, small arms, and air defense systems.

“We will continue to improve air defense, taking into account the technical characteristics of enemy aircraft,” the general said.

Shahed 136 is an Iranian unmanned aerial vehiclekamikaze device. It was first introduced in 2020. The declared flight range is 2000 km. The UAV is equipped with a delta wing with stabilizers at the ends, a warhead, a propeller and an engine.
