Germany invests €17 billion in the purchase of IRIS-T, Arrow 3 and Patriot systems

Germany will allocate billions of euros, which will be spent on the purchase of domestic and foreign anti-aircraft missile systems.

What is known

The government is negotiating with DiehlDefense to develop eight IRIS-T air defense systems. The maximum interception distance is 75 km and 24 km in range and altitude, respectively. Approximately €2-3 billion will be invested in the production of modern anti-aircraft missile systems.

Another €4 billion authorities will spend on the acquisitionIsraeli air defense system Arrow 3. The United States approved the deal last fall. Approval was required due to the fact that Boeing was involved in the development of weapons.

As you understand, IRIS-T and Arrow 3 will be allocatedabout €7 billion. But the total amount of the project to strengthen the air defense system will be €17 billion. Germany will spend €10 billion on the purchase of American Patriot PAC-3 anti-aircraft missile systems, which can destroy targets at an altitude of up to 30 km and at a distance of up to 160 km.
