Germany to launch public road that charges cars

Germany's first publicly accessible electric road will be built in the city of Balingen. The project includes the creation

1 km long route and two static chargersstations at public transport stops. The project is being implemented by wireless induction charging supplier Electreon and charger developer EnBW.

The technology chosen to create the road, allows you to charge electric vehicles dynamically (while driving) and statically (while they are stationary) to reduce the need for battery capacity and increase the driving range after stationary charging, safely charge electric vehicles and reduce downtime of electric vehicles during charging.

The technology will be implemented in two stages in the cityBalingen. The first phase will create a 400-meter walkway with two static charging stations. At the second stage, another 600 meters will be added to it, during which charging will be provided.

The cost of the project will be €3.2 million, chargingThe "lane" will be available not only for public, but also for private transport. Electreon reports that prior to the implementation of the commercial project, the company tested the operation of technologies at the test site.

In the training center EnBW was builtan artificial highway that simulates the movement of public transport during rush hour. Tests confirmed the operation and safety of the technology, showed the potential effectiveness of creating an electric strip for charging vehicles.
