Germany will give Ukraine a new batch of MARS II multiple launch rocket systems and 200 GMLRS precision-guided munitions with a launch range of 84 km

The Reuters news agency reports that Germany will transfer to Ukraine a new batch of MARS II missile systems and

additional ammunition. This was stated by German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.

What is known

We note right away that a new batch of jet systemssalvo fire will be small. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive two more MARS II in addition to the three missile systems that Germany sent at the end of the summer.

Modern MLRS will not go to Ukraine with emptylaunchers. Together with MARS II, Germany will transfer 200 GMLRS 227mm precision guided missiles with a maximum launch range of 84 km.

For those who are not in the know

MARS II is a certified Europeanversion of the American M270 MLRS multiple launch rocket system. It uses the same projectiles as the M142 HIMARS, but has two containers instead of one, i.e. can fire 12 missiles in one salvo, not six. At the same time, the presence of a caterpillar chassis makes MARS II less mobile in comparison with HIMARS.
