Scientists analyzed many studies and came to the conclusion that high temperatures are often bad
The authors of the work studied 70 studies from 27 countriespeace. They saw that higher temperatures were associated with an increase in preterm births and stillbirths. The association between temperature and adverse pregnancy outcomes was strong among women from poorer backgrounds, especially in tropical countries.
As the researchers write, with an increase in temperature of 1 degree Celsius, the risk of stillbirth and premature birth increases by 5%.
The increase in risk was small, but scientists still fear that it could affect future health due to climate change.
