Goodbye Mi Note 10: Xiaomi refuses smartphones without 5G more than $ 285

Back in November last year, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun promised that in 2020 all of the manufacturer’s smartphones

with a price tag above 2,000 yuan ($285) will get 5G support. It looks like Xiaomi is now making good on its promise.

What does it mean

The IThome publication, citing a statementXiaomi Group China CEO and Redmi CEO Lu Weibing writes that Xiaomi intends to remove from sale all non-5G smartphones priced at 2,000 yuan ($285).

First of all, it is the first 108-megapixelcamera phone CC9 Pro, which is sold on the international market under the name Mi Note 10. At the time of the announcement, it cost from $400. Lu Weibing promised to immediately remove it from the assortment.

“5G has arrived and no one can stop it,” the Xiaomi executive stressed.

This year the company has planned to release more10 smartphones with 5G support. It is not yet known exactly which “expensive” models will be abandoned, but we hope that the “cleaning of the ranks” will only take place in China, because we don’t need 5G yet.
