Google announces the launch of a new Cybersecurity Professional Certificate in Ukraine.
What is known
Online learning program developedGoogle experts with ten years of experience and will help prepare students with no relevant experience for entry-level jobs in the field of cybersecurity in less than six months. This creates more opportunities for people and contributes to filling the growing number of cybersecurity jobs.
During the course, students will be able to purchasebasic cybersecurity skills, such as how to identify common risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, and techniques to help mitigate them. Professional certificates from Google in cybersecurity are available for Ukrainians on Coursera in English, so a basic knowledge of the language will help in learning.
To help people take these courses, Google.org is providing up to 5,000 scholarships to vulnerable Ukrainians through a grantINCO is a platform that supports non-governmental organizations across Europe.These scholarships cover access and full support to study fromGoogle on Coursera.
Also, as part of the company's Internet safety initiatives, a special training "Improve the online security of your business" has been developed to help small and medium-sized business owners improve their cybersecurity skills.It is already available in 19 languages, including Ukrainian.
These initiatives in Ukraine were launched with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the national projects Diia.Business and Diia.Osvita, and the Cyber platformThey are part of the broader "New Digital Opportunities with Google" program, a series of affordable online training for businesses and individuals that can be completed at their own individual pace, and which are designed to help people prepare for jobs in industries with high growth potential, such as data analytics, digital marketing, e-commerce, and the like.
Google works closely with governments,industry experts and local organizations to understand where the needs are greatest and tailor our training to meet those needs. As digital business grows, the nature of the support and skills provided will inevitably evolve to reflect the growing cybersecurity challenges and the need to build cyber resilience to create a safer world for all.

Cybersecurity issues in recent yearsare becoming more and more relevant. Globally, the number of cyber attacks increased by almost 40% in 2022, and these trends are expected to continue to increase in the coming years. In the year since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the number of phishing attacks against users in Ukraine from Russia has more than tripled, and against users in NATO countries – four times. That is why an important part of our response to these growing threats is to increase the level of cybersecurity among people and businesses both in Ukraine and in Europe as a whole.
According to the EU, in 2022 there will be noup to 500,000 cybersecurity specialists were enough. According to Google's own research published earlier this year, 46% of SMBs reported that they were unable to hire cybersecurity professionals due to a lack of skilled professionals, high recruitment costs, or a lack of attractiveness for cyber experts. And the pressure is mounting as 43% of these SMBs reported being the victims of cyberattacks in the past 24 months.
