Google for the first time told how much it earns from advertising on YouTube

Alphabet, the owner of Google, for the first time told how much it earns from advertising on YouTube. It became clear from

fourth quarter and full 2019 financial statements.

Google acquired YouTube in 2006 for $ 1.65billion. Since then, the revenue of the service was not known. Now it turned out that in 2019, advertising brought YouTube more than $ 15 billion. This is 36% more than in the previous year.

The video service itself brought the owner company about 10% of all revenue. By the way, it amounted to $ 162 billion.

It is worth noting that YouTube also has non-advertising revenue that comes from a Premium subscription, which makes it possible to watch videos on the service without ads, as well as YouTube Music.

Subscription revenue is part of Google’s other revenue. Over the year, there was an increase of 21%, to $ 17 billion.
