Google has decided not to hold its traditional Google I/O developer conference this year.
Why?
The event was supposed to take place from May 12 to May 14in Mountain View, California. A few weeks ago, Google announced that the conference would be held online only, but it has now been canceled entirely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Out of concern for the health and safety of ourdevelopers, employees and local communities, and in accordance with recent directives, we unfortunately will not be holding Google I/O this year. Right now, the most important thing we can all do is focus our attention on helping people with the new challenges we are all facing. Please know that we remain committed to finding other ways to share platform updates with you through our developer blogs and community forums,” Google said in a statement.
Let us remind you that at the conference they were supposed to present Android 11, new services, applications, the budget smartphone Pixel 4a and much more. What will happen to them now is still unclear.
