Google Messages gets a major update with a new app icon, PiP support for YouTube and message reactions

Google has announced a new major update for the Messages app.

Messages has received a new app icon. In addition, the developers have added to the program the ability to set reactions to messages using emoji, as well as respond to a specific message.

Another innovation worth noting issupport for the “Picture in Picture” (PiP aka Picture in Picture) function for YouTube, the ability to set reminders in chat and schedule events, as well as translate voice messages into text. The latter feature will work exclusively on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones.

When to expect

As usual, Google is adding features to the app in waves. New features should be available to everyone in the near future.
