Google Says Watch Display 'Burn In' Isn't What It Seems

Google launched the Pixel Watch earlier this month. Some Reddit users have already started complaining about

device. They claim that screen burn-in occurs when the display is always on (Always-on display, AOD). The company hastened to explain that users are wrong.

People notice “ghostly” appearances on their watch screenstraces that remain after use. “I've only been using the watch for one day and it doesn't look very good. Anyone else have this problem? It seems to go away if I turn off AOD after a while,” one redditor wrote.

Google has stated that screen burn-in is notoccurs and that the problem is caused by afterimage. It should disappear over time. The company also added that it uses "a software algorithm to change the brightness of glowing pixels every minute to reduce the chance of image retention." Google claims that "most users shouldn't have to deal with this."
