Great Britain will create space command

The new structure, according to a statement by the country's Ministry of Defense, will unite all space forces and programs

Great Britain. These include a system for detecting ballistic missiles from satellites, a global positioning system GNSS (analogous to GPS) and other programs that are still in development.

At first, the space command staffwill be small and will amount to 25 people - both military and civil servants. It is planned that the command will begin work in February 2020 and will be located in the building of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain in Whitehall in London.

In the future, the department will expand the authority of the command as new programs become available. Other details about the new unit were not disclosed.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to create a space command - troops that will defend the French satellites and navigation systems from possible attacks.
