GTA 6 could get smarter, livelier NPCs thanks to new Rockstar technology

Even though Rockstar has not yet announced GTA 6, the studio is clearly preparing to create a new game with a live open

peace. Even technology has been developed to make non-player characters (NPCs) smarter.

What is known

The new patent was discovered only a couple of days ago,but they registered it back in October 2020. Take-Two is listed as the registrar, but Rockstar North technical director David Hind and AI specialist Simon Parr are listed as inventors.

The patent describes the technology of artificialintelligence for non-player characters, which will make the behavior of passers-by and drivers more organic. Current methods give developers limited tools to create living and populated worlds.

Virtual pedestrians, car drivers oreven the pilots of airplanes flying overhead behave in accordance with a given limited script (scenario). They walk and drive at the same speed, behave the same way in certain situations, and so on.

Rockstar's patent states that NPCs in gamescan get their own personalities. For example, an arrogant driver will try to avoid a traffic jam on the side of the road, but a novice driver will be careful and drive slowly.
