Microsoft reports that hackers have hacked and obtained the personal data of some email users.
As it turned out, hackers had access to Outlook in the period from January 1 to March 28. Mostly, users who used the msn.com and hotmail.com services were affected.
“Hackers could have access to the email addressthe hacked user's email, folder names, "tables of contents" of email messages, as well as the email addresses of people with whom the hacked account interacted," Microsoft said in a statement.
However, the hackers did not receive the contents of the letters.
What to do
Microsoft has already disabled the hacked accounts and denied hackers access to the service. However, users are advised to change their passwords.
The company also warns that the hack could lead to phishing emails and spam.
