Journalists drew attention to information from one of the hacker forums: a new hacking method was described there
Judging by the screenshots from the forum, it is Russian-speaking. The anonymous author explained how to hide malicious code in the GPU of a video card and then execute it on the victim’s PC. According to him, this code cannot be found using an antivirus, since the program scans only the device’s RAM.
The hacker has already tested the method on Intel video cards (UHD 620/630 series), AMD Radeon RX 5700 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 740M, GTX 1650), as well as Radeon and GeForce.
On August 25, the hacker announced that he had sold his development. The transaction amount is not disclosed.
Such malware can be used, for example, for hidden cryptocurrency mining.
