Hearthstone chief designer working on Blizzard secret project

The hype around Warcraft 3: Reforged drowned out another important news about Blizzard - Hearthstone lead game designer Mike Donais

left the project.

What is known

If you thought Hearthstone wasn't the same anymore, then there is a logical explanation for this. Hearthstone chief game designer Mike Donais left the project, but remained within the walls of Blizzard. During a broadcast on Twitch, the developer said that he had been working on another game since January, but left the details secret.

Blizzard designer Dean Ayala later took to Reddit and confirmed the information, adding that Mike is still helping the old team:

“Mike is the OP. He still gives us advice and just recently presented us with a design for a robotic murloc for the battlefields, although he has already left the team."

Working with Mike on a new Blizzard projectPeter Whalen is also working, who before working in “Blizzard” became famous for the card “bagel” Dream Quest. In turn, Donais worked on Magic: The Gathering, and only then took on Hearthstone.

Both designers boast extensive experiencein the creation of card games, and Blizzard will most likely take advantage of this. Perhaps the company has decided to release another sequel or has taken on a new universe in which CCG mechanics will be used.
