Now a new study has presented a methodwhich has already helped some patients with stage II colon cancer avoid chemotherapy. Their clinical results did not change in any way. 

This is not the first work to explorecirculating DNA - ctDNA. According to scientists, the presence of ctDNA in the bloodstream after surgery predicts the risk of cancer recurrence. The new study adds to and complements this knowledge.

It is known that approximately 75% of people with colon cancerStage II colons do not require chemotherapy after surgery, but 25% do need it. Therefore, it is important for doctors to understand who will benefit most from chemotherapy and who will only be harmed by it. 

As a result, a ctDNA-based approach to the treatment of stage II colon cancer has helped reduce the use of adjuvant chemotherapy without compromising patient survival.
