Historic moment: Apple A16 is no longer the most powerful chipset

Despite the best efforts of Qualcomm and MediaTek, for many years Apple's A-series chipsets remained out of reach in terms of

productivity. However, now, according to insider Digital Chat Station, we are on the verge of a “historical moment when the extreme graphics performance of the Apple A16 will be overthrown” to the second line. The fact is that the source obtained the results of testing the video core of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Dimensity 9200 in the GFXBench OpenGL ES 3.1 benchmark. Thus, Qualcomm’s brainchild produced an average frame rate of 217 fps, and MediaTek’s – 176 fps. Thus, the Apple A16, gaining about 195 fps, is now placed between them.

At the same time, the source mentioned the configuration of the coresDimensity 9200, which includes one super-powerful Cortex-X3 core, three Cortex-A715 and four Cortex-A510. Recall that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 architecture is slightly different: one X3, two pairs of A715 and A710, and only three energy-efficient A510s. The debut of both chips will take place in the second half of November.
