HMD Global will update Nokia 5, 6 and 8 smartphones until 2020

HMD Global has published a press release according to which all 2017 Nokia smartphones will continue

receive security patches.

What is known

Updates will be released quarterly for Nokia3, Nokia 2, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8. This is due to Nokia’s participation in the Android One program. Its rules require a guarantee of operating system support for a minimum of two years. The update schedule is as follows:

  • Nokia 3: quarterly updates starting in September 2019 and ending in September 2020
  • Nokia 5: quarterly updates starting in October 2019 and ending in October 2020
  • Nokia 6: quarterly updates starting in October 2019 and ending in October 2020.
  • Nokia 8: quarterly updates starting in October 2019 and ending in October 2020.
