    Equipment and appearance

Included with Honor Choice Robot Cleaner R1includes robot vacuum cleaner, charging dock, 19 W (19 V, 1 A) power adapter, water tank (0.3 l), removable cloth for wet cleaning, dust container (0.51 l), remote control Remote control, cleaning tool and documentation.

The docking station, although it turned out to be compact (due toremoval of the power adapter), however, its brevity is spoiled by an overly bright light indication and a power cord sticking out from the end. It won't be easy to hide it. In addition, excessive lightness has a bad effect on traction and stability, which is why the vacuum cleaner can move the docking station during cleaning.

The remote control requires 2 AAA batteries to operate.and duplicates a number of functions available in the companion app. In general, one could do without it, if not for one important BUT: only there is a button (with an icon, usually corresponding to the Mute function) for switching the language pack. There are a number of languages to choose from, among which there was a place for two Russian-speaking ones: female/classical and male/joking. For understanding, the latter meets with the phrase: "Well, hello, let's start another useless day in my life." “Leather bastard” will not be called, but not bad either ????

The appearance of the vacuum cleaner itself isa classic “tablet” for this kind of device, but a little more compact than the average representative. The case is made of plastic, the upper surface is made of glass. On top there is a button to start / pause cleaning (or to reset Wi-Fi on hold), on the bottom - two circular brushes with villi (constantly require attention, as they easily remember the shape if left curved for a long time), V-shaped removable brush, wheels with the ability to overcome obstacles up to 20 mm, contacts and sensors.

At the end, in addition to a movable bumper with a protectivea rubberized strip to soften shocks (it helps a little, after a few cleanings the front part will almost certainly be covered with scratches) there is a toggle switch and a power port - not the most familiar interfaces. However, their presence allows you to charge the vacuum cleaner without the participation of the docking station and not waste the charge.

Containers for dust and water cling to the back, but tothe mount will have to adjust. The dust container fully opens for cleaning of litter. The HEPA filter is hidden behind a removable additional mesh and is easy to clean with the supplied brush.

    Software and functions

Access to all (almost, remember the choice of voice on the remote) available functions is carried out using the Honor Choice application, available for both Android and iOS.

    Honor Choice app

You can set the suction strength, intensitywetting a rag, download the latest firmware, evaluate the device charge, activate local spiral (1.5 × 1.5 m) cleaning and snake cleaning (1m × 1 m), activate manual control, view the cleaning history and evaluate wear of individual elements. Among the nuances, I will note localization problems (when choosing the minimum water supply intensity, the maximum one is turned on and vice versa) and the lack of integration with smart home services.

    Operation

The first thing to understand aboutoperating Honor Choice Robot Cleaner R1 is a fairly budget solution. Due to the lack of tricky laser sensors and other joys of more serious devices, the vacuum cleaner has rather modest navigational abilities. At the first start, the device desperately traveled around a one-room apartment for an hour and a half and returned to the base, since less than 30% of the charge remained (it worked in the “auto” mode). Even after a complete cleaning, you should not wait in the application for a real map of the room. The device, if it remembers something, is only for itself.

After the first couple of cleanings, the robot is sufficientlygot acquainted with the area: complete cleaning ≈30 m² home space began to take ≈45 minutes. For comparison, the Roborock E4 does this in ≈40 minutes. Apparently, Honor Choice Robot Cleaner R1 cleans not in rooms, but in sectors of 2-3 m², which looks a little unusual, and at times it is even difficult to understand why it went to one point or another. In addition, the primitive navigation system does not work well with piles of obstacles, which is why it can take a significant amount of time to get out of the next “trap.” The quality of cleaning is moderate. Long hair is successfully wrapped around the brush, and most of the debris is successfully collected in the container.

There are four operating modes – “quiet”, “auto”,"reinforced" and "MAX". At maximum thrust, autonomy lasts for an hour of operation, in “auto” mode – one and a half hours, and in “quiet” mode – two hours. Judging by my observations, the “auto” mode never changed the suction power when cleaning, so it should simply be regarded as “average”. The noise produced is highly dependent on the selected power.

As for the possibility of wet cleaning, it is hereI have it, but I don’t want to do it at all. The fact is that only one container can be installed at a time: either for dust or for water. As a result, cleaning the unfortunate 30 m² will require two hours of real time and a lot of manipulation on the part of the user: remove and clean one container, fill another with water, then don’t forget to remove the rag… That moment when it’s really easier to clean up yourself.

      Conclusions

Honor Choice Robot Cleaner R1 is not badmid-budget robot vacuum cleaner with a number of nuances. Raw software, not the best aesthetics of the docking station, moderate cleaning quality, the impossibility of combined cleaning - all this is more or less inherent in robots of this class.

Despite all this, he is quite capable of copingwith the maintenance of cleanliness (not ideal, of course) within the framework of small and, preferably, not too cluttered premises. In addition, the compact size, the presence of a toggle switch and a power port on the case give the device a couple of extra points of convenience when used on the road.
