What is known
Honor Magic 5 borrowed a chip from the Pro versionSnapdragon 8 Gen 2, 5100 mAh battery with 66 W and 50 W fast charging, stereo speakers, and a whole set of both wired and wireless interfaces. In addition, the model runs on Android 13 and Magic UI 7.1.
The first difference is in the screen.It is based on a more modest OLED matrix. It has a frame rate of 120 Hz, a diagonal of 6.73”, a resolution of 1224 x 2688 pixels and HDR10+ support. Under the display is not an ultrasonic, but an optical fingerprint scanner. IP68 protection is not provided.
The front camera has lost its ToF 3D sensor, butretained the 32 MP module. In the main camera, the 50-MP module was replaced with a 54-MP one and optical stabilization was removed. The resolution of the telephoto lens has decreased from 50 MP to 32 MP, and the zoom ratio has decreased from 3.5x to 2.5x. The ultra wide-angle camera has not changed.
Price and when to wait
Honor Magic 5 will go on sale along with the versionPro in the second quarter of 2023, but will be available with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Customers will only be offered blue and black body colors to choose from. The cost of the smartphone was $950 / $950 / £795.
